The year-round sun and warmth of Florida makes it an ideal destination no matter what time of year you need a break. No matter the time of year, or how far in advance you’re planning, pack your bags for an exciting vacation full of fun and sun, and plenty of activities that are just right for everyone – and available at a moment’s notice.

Set your sights on Orlando and the surrounding area, with its many exciting entertainment offerings and you’ll build an Orlando vacation to keep everyone – no matter their age – happy and busy throughout your stay and memories to last a lifetime!

Cost of Getting Here

Enjoying an Orlando vacation is easy once you’re here. A big problem you may encounter is the cost of travel, especially by air. Many airlines charge higher prices the closer you book to your travel date. The extra money means you won’t have as much to put toward accommodations, dining, shopping, and experiences while you’re here.

Save a little cash when you book direct with Tropical Escape Vacation Homes. You won’t have to worry about extra booking and convenience fees that come with using a vacation website. You book directly with us for the unit you need and want, no matter when you need a vacation.

Accommodations for Your Orlando Vacation

When you decide to book a trip last minute, one of the major headaches is accommodations. Hotels – especially in the Orlando area – book up fast and have limited availability if you need one right away. You may be stuck in a less desirable location in the hotel – like the top floor, near busy areas like the elevator or ice machine, or encounter higher prices due to booking so close to your arrival date. Skip the headaches and book direct with Tropical Escape Vacation Homes. We’ll have the type or size of rental you’re looking for, no matter when you need a break.

Shopping

Make sure to hit the many shops and boutiques around Orlando to find everything you’re looking for – from a souvenir for yourself to remember the trip to the perfect gift for a loved one who couldn’t make the trip. Stop in at Disney Springs for plenty of Disney-themed souvenirs, jewelry, and art. ICON Park on International Drive not only contains the famed “Orlando Eye” Ferris wheel, but plenty of shopping options like The Sugar Factory, Wheelhouse Gift Shop, and more.

Dining

There are a number of cafes, bars, and restaurants throughout Orlando, serving up a variety of dining options for every meal of the day. From the exotic flavors of the Caribbean or South America, Italian, Mexican, and bar or pub fare, you’ll find a taste to satisfy any appetite. There are also malls and other everyday shopping opportunities throughout Orlando.

Sightseeing

Orlando has a long and storied history, and you can see it all throughout the town. The Publix Pole Sign is a neon pole sign dating back to the 1960s and depicts the market chain’s original signage. The Old Orlando Railroad Depot was once a hub of industry, and its brick building still stands today – and is part of both the National and Orlando register of historic places. For bookworms, stop by Jack Kerouac’s home, where he wrote his most successful novel – On the Road.

Golf

For the golfers of the group, they’ll want to check out the premier courses found throughout Orlando. Many of the courses were designed by golf greats like Arnold Palmer, Greg Norman, and others, and offer challenges courses in other locales around the country can’t. If your clubs didn’t make the last-minute packing list, ask about rentals when booking your tee times with the pro shop of each course.

Wineries

Another great way to relax and unwind is with a good glass of wine. The adults of the group can relax with an experience just for them, even last minute. There are number of wineries and vineyards throughout the Orlando area where they can find a new favorite blend. Select locales offer tastings, tours, and other private events where just you and your group can relax and unwind. You can even take home your favorites to pair with a home-cooked meal at your rental.

Spa Day

Your last-minute vacation was likely about the need for a bit of relaxation and stress relief. Spoil yourself with bit of pampering while you’re here. There are a number of spas in the Orlando area. Start with a massage, then pamper the rest of your body however you like.

You can choose a massage only, or add-on extras like aromatherapy, hot stones, deep tissue massage, and more. Pay some attention to your hands and feet with a foot massage and reflexology, hand or foot treatment like a scrub, mask, essential oils, and other relaxing treatments. Beautify every inch with a facial or back facial that targets your skin’s unique needs.

Manatee and Airboat Adventure

Enjoy a day trip that can be planned as quickly as you planned the rest of your Orlando retreat. There are a number of companies that offer day trips to the Florida Everglades. Most trips last a full 12 hours, and select trips offer a number of departure points to make it convenient for you.

VIP Insider Disney Tours

There are four Disney parks to choose from in Orlando. You can spend an entire trip soaking up all the Disney fun and excitement you can dream of and still need to come back to do it all, and that’s just what you can see as a traditional guest.

Disney fans looking to turn up the Disney fun on a last-minute break can head behind the scenes with a VIP insider tour of a favorite park. The private tour takes guests to places behind-the-scenes: those usually unseen or off-limits to park-goers during a traditional visit to the park. Park admission is not included in the price of the tour.

Your Rental

Aside from being a place to sleep and re-energize during your last-minute Orlando vacation, your rental is a source of fun, too. Select homes may be stocked with books, board games, magazines, toys for the kids, and more. Most rentals come equipped with at least one TV so you can keep up on the latest installment of your favorite TV show or watch a movie. Our rentals also include free Wi-Fi so you can post pictures and video of your Orlando activities and keep in touch with loved ones who couldn’t make the spur-of-the-moment vacation.

Theme Parks

While some plan visits to the Orlando theme parks months and even years in advance, your spur-of-the-moment trip can still include a visit. Orlando’s many theme parks are the perfect place to spend a day or a whole trip. The many activities, attractions, rides, and more that the Disney parks, Universal Studios, SeaWorld, and LEGOLAND, will keep everyone busy whether you’re there for a day, a week, or longer. Make sure to pack plenty of sunscreen and other sun protection, stay hydrated, and have enough to eat for a comfortable day at your chosen park.

Chocolate Kingdom Factory Tour

Chocolate lovers of any age will want to add this sweet stop to the top of their must-see list during an Orlando vacation, even if you didn’t plan in advance. Chocolate Kingdom’s Factory Adventure Tour is an interactive tour that takes you through the chocolate-making process from the cocoa bean all the way to the creamy, delicious chocolate treats you love.

Your Personal Chocolate Tour Guide teams up with a “handsome prince” and the prince’s dragon sidekick for an adventure through the chocolate wonderland. You’ll go through a Cacao Tree Greenhouse, a unique Chocolate Museum, the Mystical River of Chocolate, and finally the Micro Batch Bean-to-the-Bar Factory that utilizes old-world machinery in the creation of delicious chocolate desserts. The 45-minute tour includes samples along the way, and for an additional fee you can customize your own chocolate bar at the end of the tour.

Crayola Experience

Experience every color of the Crayola rainbow! The attraction is a two-story, 70,000-square-foot experience featuring 26 hands-on activities that will inspire budding arts of any age. Catch a live manufacturing show and see the crayon-making process, make digital art on an interactive wall, create unique keepsakes or your own coloring page as you or your favorite character as the star, and even create, name, and wrap your own Crayola crayon to take home.

Madame Tussauds Orlando

Located on International Drive along with many other must-see attractions for you to include on your last-minute trip, the museum features life size and life-like wax models. Get up close with many of the U.S.’s top actors, sports stars, pop icons, political and historical figures, and many others. Each category or group of stars and celebrities has its own room, and the figures are organized and placed for great opportunities for silly photos and selfies.

If you want to see yourself carved in wax, it will take three to four months for the professional team of artists and sculptors to perfect your image using over 200 different body measurements to capture everything that’s unique about you.

Ripley’s Believe It Or Not!

Experience the weird and the fascinating during your last-minute trip. Head to the museum full of artifacts and displays that will definitely have you and your loved ones saying, “I don’t believe it!” Wander through the collection of oddities including a shrunken human head, odd fossilized creatures, and other pieces from world traveler Robert Ripley’s crazy collection. Another “unbelievable” exhibit is centered around Mr. Ripley himself: At the height of his career, he averaged 3,000 letters a day for over 20 years. That’s more mail than any other individual in history to that point.

The Escape Game Orlando

Gather your group and work together to solve a series of clues and puzzles to break out of a themed room in 60 minutes or less. There are different themes to choose from, each with varying degrees of difficulty and recommended number of people and age range to solve. Choose the topic or difficulty that’s right for you and your group. Book on the website in advance, or even the day of your outing.

Last-Minute Accommodations That Don’t Feel Last Minute

From a cozy two-bedroom condo for a smaller family all the way up to a sprawling ten-bedroom single-family home for a last-minute getaway with all your loved ones, Tropical Escape Vacation Homes has a vacation rental that’s perfect for your vacation needs and style. Our vacation rental homes feature fully equipped kitchens, packed with everything you’ll need to prepare and serve a delicious a home-cooked meal, anytime. The holidays may be over, but that doesn’t mean the celebrations must end. 2017 is going to be a banner year for the city of Orlando and THIS is the time you should start planning that Florida vacation you have dreamed about for years! From fabulous weather and exciting Disney events to peaceful evenings spent on the patio of your Tropical Escape Vacation Homes rental watching the sunset, Orlando offers a vacation experience like none other. You resolved to start doing more things for you this year; isn’t it time to start honoring your resolutions?

Festival Fun

No one knows how to throw a party better than we do, and the list of Orlando festivals grows longer every year. Schedule your vacation to coincide with festivals that match your interests, such as Puppy Love Festival in March, Bite30 in June, or even Christmas in the Park in December (it’s never too early to start planning for Christmas 2017!). You can even find something new that catches your eye; Orlando festivals are exciting and unique and occur year-round!

Endless Theme Parks

Yes, everyone has heard of the world-famous mouse house known as Disney World, but were you aware that Mickey isn’t the only game in town? LEGOLAND, Universal Studios (and the Wizarding World of Harry Potter), Aquatica Orlando, and even a theme park dedicated to our favorite reptile, Gatorland, are just a sampling of the theme parks you can play in during your 2017 Orlando vacation.

Did We Mention Our Fabulous Weather?

It may sound like we are bragging (and we are…just a little bit!) but as we write this it is 73 degrees and sunny outside in January! When we look out our windows, we see blue skies, bright sunlight, and palm trees swaying gently in the wind. What do you see when you look out your window? If snow, slush, ice, and gray skies are the picture you get, now is the time to book your Orlando vacation!

Sports Metropolis

We take our sports very seriously down here, and it shows in the wide variety of professional teams that make their home here—including Spring Training teams for baseball! The Grapefruit League makes spring fun, but our fair town offers other sports as well, the most popular local team being the NBA’s Orlando Magic!

Tropical Escape Vacation Homes

A good vacation home can make or break even the best of vacations, and we like to think ours are not just good; they are the best in the state! Book yours today and discover the luxurious side of Central Florida. There’s no better place to begin and end your unforgettable Orlando vacation!

From dive bars to five star restaurants, Orlando offers an extreme variety of dining options. Due to the large amount of natural water from the ocean, inland lakes, and marshes, many of the best dining options also offer a waterfront view. Since the number of waterfront restaurants in Orlando to choose from is vast, we want to take the stress out of dining on vacation and provide you with a list of restaurant with a waterfront view. Here are some of our favorite waterfront restaurants in the Orlando area.

Hillstone

Hillstone is a fine dining establishment in Winter Park that has some of the best waterfront dining Orlando had to offer. The restaurant sits directly off the lake and will leave you and your family simply stuffed with delight. Unlike most fine dining establishments, Hillstone has a very homey feel that will leave you wanting to kick off your shoes, sit back, and relax while you take everything in. Enjoy some of their specialties like the wood fire grilled steak, craft cocktails, or a craft burger.

Norman’s

Norman Van Aken is a culinary superstar and proud adopted Floridian that has built his perfect restaurant in the Ritz-Carlton in Orlando. The restaurant is built around views of the expansive Ritz-Carlton gardens, green golf course, and lake views that will make any meal even better. On top of the view, Aken crafts specials like the Key West Shrimp Ceviche and other tapas sections that will leave you wanting more. This restaurant is a bit pricey, but well worth the trip!

Shake Shack

Winter Park is famous for its outdoor lake views. You can take advantage of these at the Shake Shack while enjoying a great meal. The Shake Shack is known for their tasty burgers, snappy hot dogs, and thick milkshakes, so if you are looking for a classic American meal, Shake Shack has you covered!

Not to be outdone by the great food, their patio area offers a unique experience of its own. The patio is removed from the loud and busy lot out front and gives guests the perfect escape to enjoy the view of the lake. Grab a beer and park yourself outside for a great meal and a great view.

Plan Your Orlando Vacation Today

These are just three of the best restaurants Orlando has to offer; there are many more great places to eat and attractions to see when you visit! Contact our reservation specialists today to book your very own getaway to Orlando, Florida.

Orlando is a really fantastic city. There’s no bigger name in theme parks, and there’s plenty to do besides with all of our shopping, restaurants, and other tourist attractions! But there’s another great part about Orlando: our neighbors! If you’re visiting Orlando and taking a nice relaxing week in one of our fabulous rentals, then try visiting some of these towns near Orlando. These daytrips from Orlando can add excitement and enrichment to your vacation that so many Orlando tourists too often miss!

Cape Canaveral

Cape Canaveral— the name sounds like “Carnival,” and the city’s just as fun as one! Just take Highway 528 straight east for about 50-65 minutes, and you’re there! We recommend this area if you’re a big fan of the ocean—if you head to the eastern edge of the city, you’ll see there’s no land in sight for hundreds of miles: perfect for that spectacular sunrise!

While you’re here, there’s plenty to fill up a day! The Brevard Zoo is home to plenty of animals and features its own “Australia Loop.” The planetarium is a great place to go not only to learn about space, but also to enjoy a thrilling lightshow! Perhaps the most fantastic attraction is the Kennedy Space Center. NASA itself hosts this complex of tours, attractions, and memorabilia surrounding America’s proud tradition of space exploration. If you’re planning a trip to Orlando, head to https://www.kennedyspacecenter.com/ and look at the countdown—you may even be able to schedule your visit to coincide with a rocket launch, visible from the center!

Apopka

Maybe you’re more a fan of nature than outer space? While Orlando’s zoo boasts a huge variety of animals, it isn’t quite the same as seeing them in their natural habitat—good thing Orlando’s neighbors have you covered! Apopka stands just 12 miles northwest of Orlando, and beyond it lies Lake Apopka North Shore, home of the Lake Apopka Wildlife Drive. The drive is a great place to view all sorts of birds. Plus, the area boasts several trailheads, making it a great pilgrimage for hikers!

Kissimmee

Head straight south to reach the town of Kissimmee. Generally best known for being near Orlando, there’s a few fun things in Kissimmee worth checking out! Capitalizing on the long history of human settlement in the area, Kissimmee Ghost Tours are a great way to get a good scare over the weekend—they’re open on weekends, making them great alternatives to Orlando theme parks’ busiest days. While there, check out the Museum of Military History and learn how the life of a soldier has changed as war has transformed. Freedom isn’t free, but tickets to learn about the struggle for it are $7 or less, making it a nice low-budget addition to a day trip. The last attraction might be unexpected: a rodeo! The Kissimmee Sports Arena Rodeo hosts what they call “The Greatest Show on Dirt.” Check it out if you’re in the mood for a real spectacle!

Reach all these from an Orlando Home!

These attractions are all just a short drive from Orlando, Florida—why not get a great deal on a week-long rental and see them all? Call 1-866-409-8598 and start setting up your ideal Florida vacation rental!

The city of Orlando has plenty to offer besides Disney and the nearby NASA Station. While these two attractions are certainly bringing in the bulk of tourists for the region, there are plenty of other historical attractions in Orlando. Travel back to a time when Central Florida was largely orange groves and swamps by visiting these historical attractions.

Orange County Regional History Center – 65 E Central Blvd – Orlando, FL

Located in the heart of downtown Orlando, the Orange County Regional History Center is a four-story historic courthouse building and home to four floors of museum exhibits. The museum is a Smithsonian affiliate and prides itself on being the go-to source of history in Central Florida. History can be fun at the Center too; come join fellow history buffs and test your brain during Retro Game Night.

Charles Hosmer Morse Museum of American Art – 445 N Park Ave – Winter Park, FL

The Morse Museum is considered a hidden gem amongst museum lovers in Florida. The museum is home to the largest collection of Louis Comfort Tiffany in the world. There are also comprehensive exhibits for American pottery, late-19th- and early 20th-century American paintings. Beautiful downtown Winter Park is the perfect location for this chic art museum.

Winter Park Scenic/Historical Boat Tour – 312 E Morse Blvd – Winter Park, FL

Don’t forget to take a scenic boat tour while in Winter Park. An 18-passenger pontoon boat gently carries you along Winter Park’s chain of lakes. Tour guides will inform you of all the history behind the lakes and the surrounding region as you meander through the pristine waters. The ride is $14.00 per adult, and $7.00 for children aged 2-11 years old. Groups of ten or more will have to reserve a spot, and they only accept cash or check.

Fort Christmas Historical Park – 1300 N Fort Christmas Rd – Christmas, FL

Fort Christmas is a bit of a drive from downtown Orlando – about 30 minutes – but well worth the trek for history lovers. The park is home to the replica fort of one built in 1837 during the Second Seminole War. There are also eight pioneer homes, a schoolhouse, a sugar cane mill and other historical farming equipment. Group and school tours are available year-round. There’s also something going on at the Park; prospective visitors should visit Fort Christmas’ website to see if there are any festivals or reenactments on the upcoming schedule.

Disney World—so much magic encapsulated into two small words. But for many parents hoping for a vacation, and for many millennials looking for a getaway with friends, these words also carry the hollow, yet heavy weight of an empty wallet. Don’t be discouraged, though; there are plenty of ways to save on a Disney World vacation on your trip to the Magic Kingdom.

Search for Special Offers

Like all businesses, Disney has its high seasons and its low seasons—and it will try to make the most out of its low seasons with special deals. Head over to https://disneyworld.disney.go.com/special-offers/ to find what kind of bargain you can take advantage of! It’s true, though, that many special offers have certain stipulations in order to use them. This means that you’re more likely to find something that suits you if you’re pretty flexible with your timetables and room conditions.

Watch What You Order

Theme park food is notorious for disrupting all dreams of having an accurate vacation-cost estimate, and Disney is no exception. While we can’t lower the costs of food for you, we do have two pieces of advice. First, recognize that many orders are automatically made into combos. However, you can order many items à la carte, skipping the sides to save a few bucks here and there. Secondly, curb your soda cravings. Many people in the U.S. are accustomed to three sodas per day, but this can run you an extra $10 per person in the park.

Bring Your Own Stroller

It’s possible to find a cheap, portable, fold-up stroller for just $25 or $30—outside of the park, that is. If you forget one, the park will rent them to you for $15 per day. These strollers are not collapsible however, which makes them cumbersome when your youngster wants to stretch their legs or when you sit to eat. If you’re going for more than one day, invest in a stroller.

What’s in Your Wallet?

If you use your credit card often—responsibly, we hope—you may have racked up some reward points. Look into your rewards program and see if any of these points can be put toward your vacation. Even if none of them can be used for free tickets, see if they can be used elsewhere to cut the vacation’s overall cost, such as airfare, car rental, groceries, and the like.

Don’t Stay with Disney

Second only to perhaps number one on this list, this advice will make the biggest budget difference. While “value” rooms in Disney hotels can cost as little as $85 per night in September and January, they can run upwards of $180 per night during the summer—and this is for the cheapest, bare-bones room.

Instead, look around for a place to rent! Check out Tropical Escape Vacation Homes’ many luxurious condos and simpler abodes—not only can our prices rival those of Disney’s, they also get you way more bang for your buck! If you’re going to spend over $100 or $150 per night on lodging, why not spend it on a place where everyone gets their own room and you don’t need to share your pool? If you check out Disney’s deals and ours, we think you’ll find there’s a strong argument that not staying in a Disney hotel might be the best option for a Disney vacation!

You’re in luck! Whether you’ve had your getaway to tropical Orlando, Florida planned for months or you’ve just been itching for an impromptu trip before school starts up again, Tropical Escape Vacation Homes has the inside scoop on some awesome upcoming events that are being hosted in Orlando over the course of the next week. Take advantage of these summer-exclusive events when you’re staying in your beautiful Orlando, Florida next week!

August 7th – 13th – Watch the Rio Olympics in Enormous HD

Next week at 5:00pm daily, NBC Sports Grill & Brew will be holding live broadcasts of the 2016 Olympics in Rio on a huge one-hundred foot HD outdoor stadium screen at Universal CityWalk. Enjoy a selection of classic American food from the restaurant’s menu while you watch the Olympics unfold before your eyes, with stilt-walkers performing during the Opening Ceremony.

August 7th – Visit SeaWorld for the Last Day of the Summer of Mako

SeaWorld just got a new rollercoaster, and its name is Mako! The tallest, longest, and fastest roller coaster in Orlando, Mako stands two hundred feet high and travels seventy-three miles per hour on a track that is nearly one mile in length. The coaster is inspired by the shark species named Mako—one of the fastest sharks in the ocean. As an added bonus to this coaster, this is the last day for special events like the Shark Touch Pool, the Mako Challenge scavenger hunt, and limited-time in-park specials.

August 7th – Enjoy Tropical Reggae from Daddy Yankee and Don Omar

These legendary reggaeton kings face off against one another at the Amway Center, continuing the battle that began in Puerto Rico during December 2015 and made music history in Las Vegas as the MGM Grand’s first reggae concert. Tickets are available online.

August 11th – Wine and Dine in Style at Tapa Toro Tapas Bar or Sample Craft Brews at Artegon Marketplace’s Beer and Wine Stroll

Here, we listed two options as one, since they both take place on the same day, with overlapping times.

Tapa Toro’s event allows foodies to get up close and personal with the restaurant’s top chefs, indulging in a decadent five-course menu and tasting the finest imported Spanish wine at $49 per person before tax and tips.

If that price is a little more than what you’re looking for, you can always take advantage of Artegon Marketplace’s Beer and Wine Stroll, during which you can sample Florida’s best craft brews and wines for free and discounted prices on food.

August 13th – Catch Motion City Soundtrack’s “So Long, Farewell” Tour

Musical phenomenon Motion City Soundtrack will be performing their last tour ever, stopping at the House of Blues in Orlando. With a career spanning almost twenty years, this pop punk band has brought joy to music listeners all over the U.S. You won’t want to miss this opportunity to see them in concert while you still can! Tickets can be purchased online.
